Impacts, adaptations and mitigation methods for climate change.

“Is global warming real?”

“Should we be worried about climate change?”

If you find yourself asking any of the questions above…this blog is definitely for you.  Practically, mostly all of the considerable problems faced today have been worsened and multiplied due to escalating global warming. The economic and ecological problems listed below will intertwine  and therefore worsen as the average global temperature rises, such impacts will be discussed throughout this blog.

Severe droughts, floods and wild fires
Rising sea levels
Water resource impacts
Desertification and deforestation
Food and resource depletion
Ocean fish stock depletion
Growing economic inequity, poverty and instability

Background information

Let’s have a look at what exactly climate change is. According the Met Office (UK), Climate change is a large-scale, long-term shift in the planet's weather patterns or average temperatures.  It was agreed upon by most climate scientists that the leading cause of the global warming inclination is the human expansion of the greenhouse effect.  Although the greenhouse effect is seen as the main cause of global warming, it is a natural and necessary phenomenon. Had the greenhouse effect not been present, the average earth’s temperature would be -18oC which is impossible for life as we know it to exist. The reason behind the rapid change in our climate is due to an excess of greenhouse gases. These gases are created throughout a range of human undertakings such as the burning of fossil fuels. These are accountable for the intensification of the natural greenhouse effect which now causes global warming.

  3. This is an interesting and informative blog, i’be had a pretty vague knowledge on global warming and climate change in the recent past and this is a great article with an extended reference of credibility.
It is said that each day we live is hotter than the last 24 hours we previously experienced and that in itself poses a great concern to our tomorrow.

I commend the writer of this blog for giving a brief but detail insight on the topic
